Comb thy gut… Morning Elixir Cleanse

I consider myself a well-seasoned plant based foodie at this point,  since I’ve been around the block a few times with living the farm to table life…

Although I DO admit, I get stuck in a rut, every so often with meal preparation. I am continuously transforming my kitchen in to a never ending science lab – creating and concocting new innovations, so this next recipe came naturally!

When temperatures get dry and time seems to be speeding up with seasonal changes, I turn to the mighty “Chia seed”. “Chia” means “Strength” in Mayan language, and the tiny seeds are just that — STROOOOOOOOOONG!

Not only are these seeds high in fiber, but they beautify you from the inside out with their anti-aging properties – think collagen boosting and hydrating at the SAME TIME! Strong bones, healthy digestive tracts, high in protein AND a heart savior, what’s not to LOVE??!!! Did you know that 1 spoonful of these little balls can sustain you for a good 24 hours?!

So we came up with a little Spring cleaning for your inners ; ) CHA- CHA- CHA- CHIIIIIAAAAAA!

I love this elixir to kick off my mornings, dive in!

*WARNING: May cause bloating, Soak seeds prior to consumption to reduce these effects ; )

Chia Seed Elixir

*I love making a big batch of this gangly goo to store in the fridge for a quick sluuuuuuuuurp!

Chia and Lemon

Why do a  cleanse like this if you don’t have good ingredients. Don’t settle for anything less than top quality. I have tapped in to many brands of chia, as of now, there is only one clear winner: Navitas Naturals.

I am always looking for new competitors out there to review, so send me your favorites brands! – – – katherine@justbeinhonest.com

Think of this elixir the same as you would a SPRING [ YAY ! } cleaning for your closets. It’s time to weed out the nasty’s and only keep those crown jewels… gut health never tasted so good!
